Borée is a giant shawl ! To make it simple, this shawl is big, large and comfy. A real cocoon for winter !

The name of this shawl is inspired, once again, of Greek mythology. Borée is the personification of the north wind, a cold wind, freezing, harsh. That is the reason why I choose those colors.
Also, I have in my mind the usual representation of the wind, blown from a god’s mouth. A slight breeze, spinning and swirling. All is left was to include some stripes, little and big ones, multitple or unique, all of them from the same point to reproduce this picture I had in mind.

That is what give this shawl a unique shape.
An asymmetric half-circle shape, very covering, all in length, obtained thanks to successive short rows.
The use of the colors make this shawl interesting, thanks to the stripes and contrasting bind off.
Et most of all, the fluffy part ! This shawl waver between stockinette and garter stitch, with a soft hairy thread (like mohair or alpaca), the perfect combo for a warm, but light, shawl.
So, we can make the choice to block and stretch the shawl or not.
Soft-blocked, the shawl is thick and fluffy, for an appreciable length of 1m90 and height of at least 55 cm at the widest point. Stretched, the shawl is light, slightly fluffy, but with a comfortable lenght of 2m15, but with a minor height.

All in all, this shawl is an easy knit, very little technical for a giant and colored result. The gauge given below is only informative. It is available for stockinette slightly stretched.
Moreover, even if you are not familiar with all the techniques used, they are fully described in a step-by-step video tutorials, which are linked in the pattern. Borée est un immense châle doudou. C’est bien simple, il est grand, il est large, il est douillet. Un vrai cocon où s’envelopper l’hiver.

Son petit nom lui vient, encore une fois, de la mythologie grecque. Borée était la personnification du vent du nord, un vent froid, glacial, rude. Le choix de mes couleurs était donc tout trouvé. J’avais aussi en tête la représentation du vent en général, soufflé de la bouche d’un dieu. Un souffle léger, tournant et virevoltant. Il suffisait d’inclure des rayures, des petites, des larges, multiples ou unique, partant toutes de la même source pour reproduire cette image.

C’est ce qui donne une forme unique à ce châle.
Une base en demi-cercle asymétrique, très couvrante, toute en longueur, obtenue grâce à une succession de rangs raccourcis. Un jeu de couleurs qui rend le châle intéressant grâce aux rayures et au rabat contrastant.
Et surtout, du moelleux. Le châle oscille entre jersey et point mousse, le tout dans un fil type mohair ou alpaca (un fil fin mais poilu), l’idéal pour un châle chaud mais léger. On peut alors faire le choix de bloquer et d’étirer le châle ou non. Peu bloqué, le châle sera épais et moelleux, pour une longueur appréciable d’1m90 et une largeur d’au moins 55 cm. Étiré, vous obtiendrez un châle plus aérien, légèrement moelleux, mais avec une longueur confortable de 2m15, pour une largeur moindre.
En somme, ce châle est facile à réaliser, peu de techniques pour un résultat haut en couleurs et en forme.

L’échantillon donné ci-après n’est purement qu’indicatif. Il est donné d’après un jersey peu étiré.
