Like the Birth of Venus, Booblette begins with a series of garter stitch oyster shells washed up along the beach. As you step onto the stockinette shore, you’ll find waves of foam and sand, lapping here and there in blips of reverse stockinette. Pearl-like bobbles dot the center of each oyster; a pearl bead may be sewn on later to further adorn the shawl.

Tits Out Collective is a response to so-called charities asking fiber artists for the donation of labor, products, and intellectual property under the promise of “exposure.” The attitude behind the collective is, “If I want exposure, I’ll get my tits out.” The pattern name combines the playful edging with the wearable shawlette size.

Venus was exposed, for sure; Booblette will provide the level of exposure, or coverage, you’re looking for.

This shawlette is knitted bottom-up, from that cast-on the sections are knitted one after another until the shawl is shaped with short-rows and finished with a garter-stitch border in a second colour.

Yarn required:

2 skeins of DK weight (appr. 220g = 423m/462y) plus another 20g for the border or equivalent in fingering weight held double

Sample used appr. 240g = 878m/960y (200g body and 40g border, knitted in handdyedberlin Merino Singles, Black Magic & Rasperry Jelly

Finished size after blocking: appr. 35cm x 220cm / appr. 14” x 91”
