beau-tie
A cute accessory to be worn any which way! Perfect for self-striping yarns, mini skeins, or stashbusting. Think designer slinky silky scarf vibes, but make it knitted.
The scarf begins with a couple of tiny knitted squares, which can be easily modified to be bigger / smaller to give a wider / narrower scarf as you wish. The remainder of the scarf is worked in the round - not a single purl for the whole item!
YARN: 4ply / fingering weight yarn, approx 340 metres / 372 yards. Sample shown in Wendy Happy (75% bamboo, 25% nylon, 458 yards per 100g ball) in shade Scorpio.
GAUGE: 28 sts and 38 rows to 4” / 10cm, blocked. Suggested needle size 3mm.
Note: gauge is not especially important with this pattern, and it is more important that the needle size produces a fabric that is not too dense but not too loose. The sample used a fairly thin sock yarn so 3mm needles produced a drapey fabric, but you may need a larger needle size with other 4ply / fingering weight yarns.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS:
3mm long circular needle for magic loop (see note above on needle size)
OR 3mm DPNs OR 9” / 20cm circular needles if preferred.
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
SIZE: sample is approx. 2.75” / 7cm wide by 57” / 145 cm long, however can be made to any length you wish. A shorter version will of course use considerably less yarn.
I LOVE seeing people knit my patterns and make them their own - if you could tag @lilykatemakes and #KnitBeauTie on Instagram that would be great!
