Any Which Way Cowl
Talk about a fast knit! Once I decided what stitch patterns to use in this cowl, it flew together in only a few hours. I used a gorgeous super bulky yarn and size 17 needles and, zoom! Off the needles it came in no time at all! It’s so much fun to knit!

I chose three stitch patterns knit in the round, and watched the pattern sections of seed, garter and rib stitch grow vertically. The cowl may be worn any which way. There is no front or back. It is deep enough to be folded over, too. This pattern will work for any super bulky yarn.

My knitting friends (The Village) helped me name it. Thanks, everyone! I found a little blurb on line. “Any which way” adds a random or haphazard flavor that plain “which way” doesn’t have. It implies arbitrary choice of direction to be determined by the person being addressed.

Full disclosure. There is a big difference in the depth of each section after it’s bound off. The rib stitch section is tall, the seed stitch section is condensed and the garter stitch section is even more condensed. I recommend wet blocking it to even out the stitch sections, although the unblocked cowl looks fine when it’s worn.

The cowl is approximately 10” deep x 27” in circumference. Gauge is 1½ sts./in.
