This cowl is simple, but full of texture. It was created from my desire to use a half skein of lovely Stonehedge that was sitting in my stash looking lonely. How many times have you knit a sweater, scarf, or hat and still had a substantial amount of yarn leftover? This cowl is perfect for using up the 125-150 yards leftover balls in your stash; and it looks stylish too!

I like my cowls to be a little bigger so that I can keep my hair tidy and tuck the cowl around my neck when worn with my coat or sweater. If that’s not your style, you can easily remove a repeat or two. It is also a fast knit with an easy repeat to memorize. Perfect for stashbusting AND gift giving.

This pattern is meant for adventurous novice knitters to experienced knitters and all those in-between. Please read the entire pattern before beginning.

Yarn: 1/2 Skein Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Worsted, 250 yards, 100% Merino Wool, Berries, approx. 125 yards needed.

Needle: US 6 (4 mm) Hiya Hiya Steel Interchangeable needles or needles to obtain gauge

Gauge: 5 stitches per inch (spi) and 6 rows per inch (rpi) OR 20 stitches & 24 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette (unblocked)

Size: 27 inches around by 6 inches wide (unblocked); 32 inches around by 6 inches wide (blocked)

To alter the size: Adjust your gauge to increase or decrease the circumference of the scarf as needed. Alter the width as desired.
