Affection
When you knit this shawl remember moments when you felt and expressed affection towards your child, parent, sibling or friend. If you “knit them into” the fabric of the shawl, the shawl can later serve as a reminder to notice your tender feelings towards others. If you knit this for a present, what can be a better gift than a shawl literally full of affection?
Affection is the fifth pattern from the Moment Catchers e-book. The e-book includes six shawl patterns in total, all designed to catch the most precious experiences.
The shawl is worked sideways in one piece. The narrow triangle starts with just a few stitches. The rounded flower shape at the bind off edge is formed with extra increases, no short rows are used. The size of the shawl can be easily customized as the four-row repeat in the body of the shawl can be worked any number of times. A sport weight gradient yarn is used for the sample shawl, but you could also use a solid colour or a heavier yarn.
For information about measurements and yarn requirements please check the second page of the pattern located among the photos on the left.
The pattern is fully charted and includes line-by-line written instructions. Video tutorials are available for the I-cord cast on and working aligned picots.
I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished shawl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:
dpecg Very easy, meditative knit, yielding a beautiful result!
bufknitter This lovely shawl grows from a wonderful lace end to bloom into a beautiful flower. The pattern is easy to follow but complex enough to keep it interesting.
lifen Easy shawl once you’ve mastered the pattern. Very cute flower which is a showcase for sure.
bossanova I would say, prepare to be charmed and delighted. This is a treat, a real gift to give to yourself, even if you plan on gifting the finished shawl to someone else. A very fun knit, a great design, and the flower on the top is not only fun and interesting to knit, it also makes for a beautiful design element. I can’t wait to wear this shawl! Loved the whole knitting experience. This shawl knits up quickly, is just the right amount of challenging, the instructions are clear, and the final shawl is beautifully unique.
