The pattern was designed to use 24 x 10g mini skiens as I was taking part in a yarn advent swap and wanted to design a pattern to incorporate all of the different yarns I received, but you can be adventurous and knit it your way.

There are two simple pattern options - wide chevrons or narrow chevrons and there are endless options for yarn combinations.

Any oddments of standard 400m per 100g sock/fingering weight yarn can be used and 10g should be enough for each pattern repeat

Using 24 x 10g mini skeins will of course give 24 stripes, as shown in the pattern photo, but you could just as easily knit up your oddments simply changing yarn as and when each one runs out to achieve a random stripe sequence.

Or even choose 2 or 3 single skeins that are lurking in your stash and create a striking striped cowl with them.

Prefer 21 stripes or even 33? No problem just finish whenever you’re happy with the size of your cowl.

Gauge isn’t really important but you may find that more than 10g per pattern repeat is needed if you use thicker yarn and/or bigger needles.
