If you enjoy celebrating the Advent season, you might want to make an Advent Calendar wall hanging that can be filled with your favorite treats, and used for many years to come. After knitting the panel flat, the after-thought pockets worked from the back of the panel, and top and bottom edges sewn to create a casing for wooden dowels. Finally, the numbers are embroidered on the front of the pockets using a duplicate stitch technique.

Level: intermediate
Size: 17” wide x 34” long panel, with 2.75” wide x 3” long pockets
Gauge: 26 sts x 32 rows = 4” x 4” in cable pattern.

Materials

• Circular needle US size 6 (4.00 mm) or size to obtain gauge.
• Aran or Worsted weight yarn, approximately 650 yards; sample made with Hobby Lobby I Love This Wool! Naturals in color Ivory (10), 3 balls, plus a small amount of CC color (red) for duplicate stitch embroidery
• cable needle, tapestry needle, scissors, spare DPN needles, two 23” long x ½” diameter wooden dowels, wooden bead garland (optional).
