Acanthus uses a toe-up construction and packs a lot of punch into an elaborate lace panel worked over just 29 stitches across the front of the foot and leg. The rest of the sock is streamlined and speedy.

The lace panel is complex but the results are very much worth the effort - a wonderfully structural leaf-lace with graceful lines.

Stylized acanthus leaves have long been a feature in design, found across many countries and cultures. That which is good enough for marble and iron, is also good enough for wool.

The lace instructions are provided both in chart and written form.

Size
Three sizes are provided in this pattern, follow the appropriate colour-coded instructions for the size you wish to make, small, medium or large.

This pattern was designed for supply drop one of The Lightfinger Gang 2017.

The lace pattern in this sock comes from Hitomi Shida, see design 64 in either the original Japanese or the English translation of her work. https://www.bookdepository.com/Japanese-Knitting-Stitch-Bible/9784805314531
