This badger themed blanket is knit using garter stitch for the body of the blanket and then using the double knitting technique for the border at the top. The finished border section is double sided and double thickness, a bit like two separate pieces being sewn together back to back, stocking stitch is uppermost on both sides with the colours reversed on the ‘wrong side’ - although you end up with two right sides! The two sides or layers are knit at the same time. If you have not used this technique before all will become clear as you go.

By using garter stitch and double knitting, the blanket is reversible with no need to turn the top down, as the double knitting means the top border is already thicker than the main body of the blanket!

Knit from the bottom up, the garter stitch body of the blanket makes for easy, relaxing knitting; the double knitting border at the top proves more challenging and adds interest!

The finished blanket measures 79cm/31in wide x 80cm/31.5in long. You can, however, increase the width by adding another pattern repeat and the length by working more garter stitch rows (you would, of course, need more yarn!). To make a smaller blanket work one less pattern repeat and less garter stitch rows.
