Susan Gressman
My mom taught me to knit when I was a teenager. That may seem late to many, but she only learned to knit a year before she started teaching me. We learned much together!
A few years ago if I’d been told someday I would be a knitwear designer, I would have laughed and replied,”Yeah, in my wildest dreams!”
I loved fiddling with patterns to give them my personal touch, but that wasn’t designing. Slowly I stopped using patterns as a starting point and began using a blank page instead. I loved it! Completing the TKGA Master Hand Knitting course in 2013 helped give me focus, direction, and most importantly confidence. I started putting my designs on Ravelry and was thrilled when people actually downloaded them!
This step led to being “discovered” by Done Roving Yarns and now I design professionally for them.
I love being able to say I’m a knitwear designer!
